Hi all - currently a Spotify user and since I'm in the US Deezer is not normally available, however I just bought a Bose SoundTouch system that includes US access for Deezer at $5 / month, and Spotify is of course about $10.Beyond the price difference, are there any big differences between Spotify and Deezer that would give Deezer the leg up on Spotify? Are the song libraries especially different? Spotify for sure has some big holes in its library among the types of music that I listen to, but I'm not confident that Deezer is going to be any better overall - maybe as many holes, just different ones? The other annoying aspect of Spotify is that you can only be playing back on one device at a time - listen to a song on my PC, start playing one on my iPad and the PC stops playing. Does Deezer have this same limitation? Also, if anyone happens to know, does the Bose offer for Deezer include full access to Deezer via Deezer's own apps, etc. Or only from within Bose's app?. I had deezer premium for over 2 years.
I have just started using a new music streaming app called Deezer. If you use Spotify already then you'll already be familiar with the concept of Deezer. It wants to give you cheap / free streaming of any music you could possibly want to listen to, to whatever device (pc, mobile, tablet.) you could want. Deezer pays artists significantly less than other similar services. As of March 2018 it was paying $0.0064 / play, less than Apple Music and Google Play, half as much as Tidal ($0.0125). Not as bad as Spotify or Pandora, but could certainly do better.
Last week I changed to Spotify, since the rest of my family decided to adopt the family plan.Honestly I prefer Deezer, there are much more resources for finding new music, specially seeing which user's playlists have an specific artist, and recommendations directly to your playlists. But the Flow option still needs improvements.I think that Spotify is a good option if a lot of your friends are using it. Also I think it's mobile app is better, and it's supported in more platforms, like smart TV's and PS4's.Both have strong and weak points, but since you came to this subreddit looking for opinion, I will take you like finding new music, so I would suggest Deezer. I don't see a difference between the two services, honestly. Most (if not all) of my friends use Spotify and are satisfied, and I use Deezer and am satisfied. The Android app is pretty good, and listening songs with the browser open isn't a big deal. Of course I would prefer to use an app, so I could download songs to listen offline, but I can do that with my phone and that's ok to me.Most holes people talk about don't bother me, so I would suggest you to create a free account on Deezer and check if your favourite artists are there.
I used a free account for almost 2 months when I finally decided to pay for the service. I think it is well worth it. Are the song libraries especially different?
The majority of songs are in both libraries though sometimes there is a difference between Spotify and Deezer.I'm not confident that Deezer is going to be any better overall - maybe as many holes, just different ones?Exactly. Deezer has its own cons. 1) The whole engine is less developed than Spotify, probably due to the difference of their budget. 2) I‘m certain that Spotify has more interactive UI (personal opinion) 3) Yet Deezer doesn’t offer windows/mac application. You can only be playing back on one device at a time. Does Deezer have this same limitation?Yes it does. You can listen to a song only in one device at the same time. What I love about Deezer: you can change your all playlists‘ pictures.
This function is not provided by Spotify. You can upload any song online without restrictions. That's a game-changing thing.
If I can't find specific songs on Deezer, I might just buy the album and upload it. No data size restrictions though the process of uploading is frustrating (you can‘t see any information about uploading progress). To sum up, I think that Spotify is better than Deezer but since my phone service provider offers free Deezer subscription with unlimited data, I don‘t want to migrate to Spotify.
